Two French-Canadian scientists began studying birds in France in 2006. They came to the conclusion that birds understand the speed limits. They noticed that the birds were more active based on the speed limit of the road that they were traveling on and the season. The vehicle’s actual speed did not affect the birds. A report by New Scientist claims that birds are more active in the spring because the younger birds are learning about the dangers of cars. It also states that birds learn which places are more dangerous because they believe cars to be a sort of predator.
